Opening Daegu International Art Fair 'ART DAEGU 2010'

ART DAEGU is an annual art fair, with its fourth time this year, since being established in 2007.
Daegu is second only to Seoul when it comes to its interests in art, having a pivotal role for modern and contemporary art in Korea. With this setting, ART DAEGU has grown not only in scale but in quality, year by year. As an international art fair, at a domestic level, it has come to be the second most crucial art fair to KIAF. This year there are 53 galleries participating in the art fair, including 10 foreign galleries from countries including the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Notably, it plans to open a variety of special exhibitions, including Blood Orange ? featuring emerging artists from the U.K. ? and Return of Creation, for the purpose of shift in recognition of artwork trade. ART DAEGU provides an outstanding opportunity to appreciate current trends in contemporary art, through a wide variety of works. It is also a chance to let the world experience the beauty of Daegu and see its place on the international stage. It is our duty to do our best to develop this art fair, so that it can become more prosperous each year, just as it continues to grow in significance.

제4회 대구국제아트페어 ART DAEGU 2010를 개최하며

지난 2007년 창설 이래 올해로 네 번째 맞는 아트페어입니다.

지방도시 대구는 서울을 제외하고는 미술에 대한 관심이 가장 큰 도시로, 근현대 미술의 중추적 역할을 해온 지

역입니다. 이러한 기반에 힘입어 ART DAEGU는 해를 거듭 할수록 내실 있는 성장을 해왔습니다. 국내에서 개최

되는 국제아트페어로써는 KIAF(한국국제아트페어) 다음으로 비중 있는 아트페어로 확실한 위상을 차지하게 되

었습니다.


올해에는 미국, 유럽, 일본 등 10개의 외국화랑을 포함하여 53개의 화랑이 참가했습니다.

특히 영국의 떠오르는 신예작가를 선보이는 <블러드 오렌지_Blood Orange>와 미술품 거래의 인식전환으로 기

획된<창작의 귀환>을 비롯하여 다채로운 특별展도 마련하였습니다.


아트대구는 국내외의 많은 화랑이 출품한 작품들과 특별展에 출품 된 다양한 작품들을 통해 현대미술의 경향을

한 눈에 감상할 수 있는 좋은 기회를 제공할 뿐 아니라 한국미술을 국제적으로 알리는 중요한 계기를 마련해주

고 있습니다.


아울러 대구를 아름다운 도시ㆍ명품 도시로 세계에 알리는데도 큰 기여를 하고 있다 하겠습니다. 이러한 중요한

의미를 갖는 행사이니만큼 매년 보다 나은 아트페어가 되도록 사명감을 가지고 발전시켜 나아가겠습니다.


이번 ART DAEGU 2010의 성공적인 개최를 위해 협조를 아끼지 않으신 후원처인 문화관광부를 비롯하여 외교통

상부, 한국문화예술위원회, 대구문화재단, 주한스페인대사관, 한국미술협회, 엑스코와 협찬사인 삼성카드, 국민

은행에 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 또한 전시회 전반에 걸쳐 애써주신 운영위원님께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니

다. 그리고 무엇보다도 훌륭한 작품으로 전시를 빛내주신 참여화랑과 작가 분들께 뜨거운 고마움을 표합니다.
